Ford's has just released their 65 MPG 2009 Fiesta ECOnetic that goes on sale in November. Unfortunately, the car will only be released in Europe.
While half of all cars sold in Europe last year ran on diesel, the U.S. market remains relatively unfriendly to the fuel. Taxes aimed at commercial trucks mean diesel costs anywhere from 40 cents to $1 more per gallon than gasoline
It just doesn't make economic sense for Ford to release the car in the U.S. What can you do about this? Tell your representatives to take the tax on diesel down and to encourage clean diesel vehicles to come to the U.S. Also, contact Ford to release the car in the U.S, once they see that the demand is high they will release it in the U.S. For those of you in Europe, have fun driving a car with 65 Mpg.

thank you..this seems criminal to not know about or have access to this technology from a so=-called American firm. Just highlights the lack of national or ethical loyalties in corporatiomns designed to revere profits over all else.
