Most people throw away "empty" containers before they're REALLY empty.

For ANYTHING that is water-based, and intended for consumption, once you get towards the bottom of the container, add water - then add more/ rinse the container and make full use of the ENTIRE contents of the container.  THEN reuse or recycle the container.  You'll get an additional 2 - 10 uses out of an "empty" container - save on your budget.  Plus, when (if?) the containers are recycled, this material requires treatment - or,if they're in a landfill, they require time to degrade.

Liquid laundry detergent - add water, shake, pour into washer.  Rinse again and add to washer.

Liquid dish detergent, hand soap - add water, shake, use; do this a couple times to clean container.

Shampoo - add water, shake; use!

Cleaners (Lysol, Windex, etc.) - same drill.

Beverages - juices, soda, etc are super-sweet; add some water to the "empty" container, swill, and pour into your glass.  Same effect as melting ice - plus, you can wean your taste buds away from such a sweet taste.
