I have old style binders, the lever arch ones from the likes of Leitz, for instance, that are 25-30 years old and still going strong and the same for ordinary ring binders of the standard old-style variety. Seeing that ratio of durability of the older ones to the "eco-friendly" ones methinks the older ones are more eco-friendly than the eco-friendly ones.

Many of those "old" binders also can be had from offices and schools for nothing often and that is a much better recycling.

I've seen these before, and I must say they look fairly fragile.  If they only last a couple years, is this really a solution?  In other words, if the conventional ones last for 10 years plus and these only last a couple, I'm thinking that's less good for the environment than the old version.
