Plants that are "unthirsty" will  help produce cooler scapes.  There are beautiful natural grasses that do not need cutting, that require little maintenance and little to no water.  They also add a natural beauty to your yard.

Some of these grasses are...Oriental Fountain Grass, Flame Grass(this suff turns bright orange in the winter)  These are perennials which means you plant them once and they come back year and again.

Other great perennials that flower and require little water are...Black-Eyed Susans, Sikiyou Pink and Autumn Joy.  These will also allow you to have blooms 3 seasons if you live on the east coast.

Trees and Shrubs and other groundcovers that require little water are...Japanese Maples, Viburnum Tinus is a great cover that produces vibrant pink blooms and FRAGRANT white blooms.  Gynista Lydia is another beautiful cover that blooms little yellow blooms, similar to the yellow in the black-eyed susans.  Red carpet is another beautiful covering...once again all these bloom through out the year at some point all with little water.
