You can save 1,200 pounds of carbon dioxide a year if you cut down your garbage by 10%. Plus you save 10% of the waste that goes to landfills every year.
one way to reduce is pay attention to the packaging for what you buy, and buy bulk with reusable containers when possible. I have family who buy their rice noodles in those plastic, ready to microwave bowls....I get the same noodles without the bowl. Cheaper and less clutter.
I can get oil and nut butters and shampoo and honey and a ton of other stuff at a store that is an eight minute walk from my home, so enjoyable and easy for me.
If you can't buy bulk, buy a larger container when possible and repackage at home as needed. I have canning jars and assorted reused jars; personally like to arrange my grains and beans and such where I can see them, get a little aesthetic about the color combos and such!
