I know everyone enjoys long hot showers, but if we just decrease our shower by just 30 seconds every day we will save a lot of water and carbon dioxide. A home's water heater gives off more carbon dioxide than an average car travelling 15,000 miles a year.
Showers account for 2/3 of all water heating costs. You can still have your long hot showers once in a while, but for every day quick showers decrease the time by 30 seconds and you will save 350 pounds of carbon dioxide and $99 a year.
A shower blasts a gallon of water every 2-3 minutes, so the more you cut down the better. You could save about 500-1000 gallons a year depending on how much you cut back.

What really helps minimize the excess water use here is to install a low flow shower head. Using the same principal's as previously mentioned in other solutions through this device will greatly reduce your water consumption, with minimal effort needed to install and operate.

You can also cut down water usage during shower time by turning off the tap while lathering up and shaving!
