When you get to the end of the spagetti, olives, pickles or anything else in a glass jar with a top, keep it and use it as a glass, mixer for superfood drinks or as container for anything that needs to be stored.  Plastic containers may leach chemicals into your food, glass doesn't.  Plus, it's free.

I paint the outside of jars and lids and use them to store pasta and rice. They have to be cleaned well with white vinegar, especially the lids, then the vinegar can be reused for laundry, washing floors, etc. Sometimes I fill the decorated jars with candy, coffee, tea, etc., and give them out as gifts.
